The Audio Magazine

An eight-episode audio magazine where blind storytellers put the tools into practice.

Blind people are often discussed. Here, they are heard.

How it works

  1. 01

    Open call

We invite blind creators who want to make audio, whether they already have a polished idea or just a sound they cannot stop thinking about.

  2. 02

    Hardware and mentoring

Participants receive BLIND ENVY hardware and hands-on mentoring in the device and in sound production, with teachers including Elyse Blennerhassett, trained in oral history and Columbia's Journalism and Sound Art programs, and Ariana Martinez, a Rutgers Media Arts lecturer and Disabled Journalists Association fellow.

  3. 03

    Release

We help finish the work and support distribution wherever it can travel: audio platforms, festivals, and other listening spaces.

Interested in participating?

We are preparing the first cohort for production. If you are a blind or low-vision creator with a story to tell in sound, we want to hear from you.
